1. When selecting the Qianceng stone, scrape the surface of the Qianceng stone to see if stone chips can be scraped out. Generally, the hardness of Qianceng stone is higher than that of Taihu stone. When checking, use a knife to scrape the base of the stone. If stone chips are scraped out, it is a fake Qianceng stone.
2. Distinguishing the authenticity of the Thousand Layer Stone also depends on whether its appearance has been artificially processed. There are generally two methods for manual processing, one is adhesive bonding, and the other is chiseling, sawing, and drilling. The main purpose of adhesion is to increase the ingenuity of the thousand layer stone, so when inspecting natural thousand layer stones, attention should be paid to the peak of the stone to see if it is seamless with the main body and if there are any adhesive marks.
The practice of chiseling, cutting, and sawing the bottom with an axe is not suitable for most thousand layer stones. Generally, the ancients used an axe to chisel a hacksaw for falsification, which is easier to distinguish due to its prominent marks. However, modern people use hydrochloric acid to obscure the falsification marks, making it more difficult to distinguish.
3. Nowadays, some people still use the more wonderful method of electric drilling and filing to increase the value of Qianlie Stone. Due to the various types of drill bits and grinding wheels, holes can be drilled and peaks can be ground at any desired location. A piece of inconspicuous thousand layered stone, processed in this way, has concave and convex peaks, and the processors also use fine sand grinding and hydrochloric acid crushing after drilling and grinding the peaks. It is usually difficult for casual people to distinguish between true and false.
